Ban ALL Soft Drinks in Schools

Why are sugar drinks banned in many schools, but not artificially sweetened drinks? 

Artificial sweetners in soft drinks and added to natural juices and other processes foods and drinks are at least as bad for children as refined sugars and high fructose corn syrup. So I ask again:

Why are sugar drinks banned in many schools, but not artificially sweetened drinks?

Could it be that the process to FDA approval of these toxic additives is pushed by the manufacturing companies which are, in many cases, the same companies that manufacture prescription medicines. These companies spend enormous amounts of money to influence government officials, researchers and on advertisements to consumers.

Chemical companies contribute heavily to colleges and universities that perform research on many of the products they manufacture. If the money stops, university research could be negatively affected.
