Who has had experience with using an online survey service?
I want to put a citizens survey on my blog. Can I do it without an outside service? I would like to know what experience others have had with blog surveys. I need to know how Greensboro folks feel about local issues because I plan to run for Greensboro City Council (again).
Clicking on answers to a few questions seems to be easier than asking for comments alone. I can direct people to the survey and they can answer questions and make comments anonymously.

You might be able to use FreePolls.com as well. I've used them in the past and found it easy. You can use up to ten different answers (multiple choice) and even set a cut off date.

I have answered surveys via SurveyMonkey - business related and generally for some sort of drawing for a prize.
You have to remember that Internet Access is not universal, nor is interest. Your results may be heavily skewed by a small sample.
For example, if you polled people at a GrassHoppers game, most would support firing Matt Brown at the coliseum and returning the hockey team. (Great idea in my opinion; but not widely held by most citizens, despite what I would like to believe.)

Thank you for your thoughtful observation. I agree that blog readers are only a small portion of Greensboro residents, but every thought that is shared here reaches somebody. Then, hopefully, somebody else.
Are you the same Don Moore who is a frequent contributor to the N&R Letters to the Editor?
If so, I agree with your letter in Feb. 2004 suggesting that the City doesn't use enough of its resources to maintain it's own facilities.
This has been one of the things that I have mentioned throughout the years as a problem in the city budget. We POUR money into a FEW projects and neglect others.
Didn't mean to get off on another subject, but your name rang a bell and started me off on one of the reasons I want to be a part of the decision-making process in Greensboro. Of course, there are many more.
